Introduction
Life is like riding a bicycle - in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving. ~Albert Einstein
I love Nova Scotia!
Antigonish, Co. Nova Scotia. Such a beautiful place to grow up!
I love children and youth!
My two monkeys.
I love bikes!

All Nova Scotia Children & Youth Bike!
Needless to say, I love that my company, Move Live Learn, LLC, was the successful proponent lead a feasibility study titled "All Nova Scotia Children and Youth Bike! A Feasibility Report". This work was rewarded by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness. If I, in collaboration with some incredible and passionate people in and outside of Nova Scotia, contribute to the literature on how a logical, reasonable, and sustainable plan can be implemented to provide all Nova Scotia children and youth access to a bike program(s) - it could be very impactful.
What does this project entail?
Among other deliverables, a key objective of this project is to provide a province-wide Options and Recommendations Report on how all children and youth in Nova Scotia could learn:
- Bike Skills
- Bike Safety
- Basic Bike Maintenance
Given the benefits of bike riding (physical health, emotional health, social health, environmental benefits, etc.) it is a topic that I am very passionate about. Some of my favorite memories include time on a bike (a few select memories include: completing Ironman 70.3 with my partner {MacGyver} in Newfoundland in 2008; climbing Mt Diablo in Northern Cali on a random afternoon with MacGyver and his brother Johnny; riding {and, falling} at Walnut Creek in Albermarle Co. during my UVA days with all my UVA friends; watching my daughter take risks and pedal independently as a 3 year old).
Why am I telling you all this?
I know that you can help! You might be a teacher, administrator, parent, elected official, school district coordinator, bike enthusiast and/or simply a brilliant mind. Would you please consider completing this survey on behalf of the project? Moreover, if you feel you might not have information to offer this project, could you please consider sharing it with someone who you know who you think might be able to contribute?
But, I don't live in Nova Scotia?
The scope of this project includes an environmental and jurisdictional scan that is provincial, Canadian, and International. In other words, you probably have something very helpful to share if you are familiar with one or more of the following:
- programs that teach bike skills
- programs that teach bike safety
- programs that teach basic bike maintenance
- bike programs that are offered in schools
- bike programs that are offered through recreation centres
- bike programs that are offered through communities
- bike storage
- bike transport
